Last Senior Tournament 2021 - Senior Santa Claus Tournament – 12/1:

Berkeley Hills CC has a tradition of hosting a Santa Claus Tournament for all our members on a Saturday in early December.  Senior golfers who are on a week day only membership wanted to share in providing toys to needy children  The Berkeley Senior Men’s Golf Association did host a Senior Santa Claus prior to the Saturday event. The format was a 3-Man Scramble.  We were very encouraged by a solid turnout all giving gifts for the kids.  Results were incredibly close with only 5 strokes between the first and last teams.  Four places won prizes, and surprisingly there was a 4 way tie for first.  The entire prize pool was shared by all four teams with a score of 56.  The winners were:

Bob Kaleida, Bob Page and Larry Jamieson

John Cahill, Bob Lee and Dave Ferrari

Bob Newsome, Mike Black and Hugh McGonagle

Ted Wyerman, Dan Settle and Bill Demond

The BSMGA, and the Club Professional Staff have agreed upon a number of Senior Tournaments (listed below)
usually played during the week to which all seniors are invited.
Senior Tournaments include white and gold tees players.  This list does not include all regular scheduled Berkeley tournaments which have a “Masters Division” for those seniors who prefer to play from the regular (white) tees.

List of tournaments - 2022

Stableford Tournament - March

Ringer Tournament – April

Senior Net Championship - August

Senior Santa Claus – December

The vast majority of Country Club members are over the age of 50 and Berkeley is no exception.  A good chunk

of them are still working, but a significant proportion of them are retired.  Stepping forward to the white tees or even further to the gold tees gives seniors an opportunity to challenge the course when the length of the course is

reduced to manageable levels.  Competing on a course more manageable has brought more fun back into these competitions.  Berkeley has further made a decision to conform to USGA rules allowing competitors to play from the tees established for their handicap in the same tournament.  This means players whose handicaps are established from the white or gold tees may compete with players from the blue or player tees.

First Berkeley Seniors Social of the Year Thursday, December 2nd :

The BSMGA organized a year end get-together to include spouses and partners.  The BSMGA contributed drink tickets for beer or wine to all who attended. This was intended to be a social gathering to bring us together off the golf course and were pleased with the number of seniors attending.
